This past year I read 78 books, mostly fiction and Christian Living. In this post, I’ll share with you my favorites and some discoveries. About 10 of the 78, I either didn’t finish or did not particularly enjoy.
Of the 78, my #1 favorite is ‘A Million Little Ways’ by Emily P Freeman. It’s a littlish book but pack full of words that help the reader ‘uncover the art you were made to live’ and this art is something we were all born to do.
Other top favorites, in no particular order, are:
Starry Night by Debbie Macomber
The Lemon Orchard by Luanne Rice
Rhythms of Rest by Shelly Miller
Reshaping it all by Candace Cameron Bure
Rich Mullins; His Life and Legacy by James Bryan Smith
When God doesn’t fix it by Laura Story
The Longing in Me by Sheila Walsh
Lazarus Awakening by Joanna weaver
You Are a Writer by Jeff Goins
Rush of Heaven by Ema McKinley
Balance by Nik Wallenda
#struggles by Craig Groeschel
Another favorite and a new discovery was The Family of Jesus by Karen Kingsbury. I borrowed this from the library as a book on tape. I loved hearing this story told, especially Mary as she finds herself pregnant and what she might have said and felt. Listening to a book was a nice change of pace and I will definitely borrow more books on tape.
OK, don’t laugh but another discovery was The Bobbsey Twins. Yes, I read one of their books this year. These were a favorite as a child and it was fun to reread a long ago favorite.
Biographies have always been a favorite category. This year I read about Whitney Houston, Nik Wallenda, Ema McKinley, Stephanie Fast, and Rich Mullins.
Black Beauty was on my list, a favorite of the classics.
For next year I hope to read more writing and blogging type books, less fiction and more Christian Living. I borrow many from the library, my Kindle is filled and bookshelves are stacked.
