With many uncertainties in our world around us today, I would like to encourage us with Hope Scriptures.
I pray these verses encourage you as you think on them.
What does life look like when we have no hope? I probably don’t need to remind you if you’ve been there. Some of the ways I’ve experienced is living with fear, wanting to give up, apathy, depression and anger. It’s a sad place to be. I’d like to share today how I found hope.
The dictionary defines hope as “to want something to happen.”
The Holman Bible Dictionary defines it this way: Trustful expectation, particularly with reference to the fulfillment of God’s promises. Biblical hope is the anticipation of a favorable outcome under God’s guidance. More specifically, hope is the confidence that what God has done for us in the past guarantees our participation in what God will do in the future. The Bible bases its hope in God and His saving acts.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19
This is the Hope that rescued me many years ago. Friends, this Hope can rescue you too.
An anchor is used to keep a boat stabile in the water so it does not drift. The anchor is connected to the boat to hold it secure.
God is my Anchor. As long as I stay connected to Him, I am stabile and secure. With all that is troubling in the world, I can have security and feel safe. Otherwise, I’m tossed around by the storms of life. His words are Truth. We can have security, peace and stability in His Truth for us, as we trust in Jesus. My future is secure in Him. Is yours? Will you trust Him today?
Dear Heavenly Father, In a world with turmoil and bad news, we need an anchor for security and strength. You are a firm anchor for our hearts. Help us to trust You for our today and tomorrow’s. In Jesus Name. Amen
Does it seem that your life is not your own? Have there been unforeseen circumstances that have changed the direction of your life? Do you feel like you do everything right yet everything seems to go wrong?
Yes. Yes. And yes. Me too.
As a little girl, I just wanted to grow up, get married, have babies and live happily ever after. It didn’t happen that way completely. I did not have those babies.
In 1988 President Ronald Reagan designated the month of October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness. The movement has continued since. If you have experienced this loss, please know you are not alone. You may feel like an outcast but you are not. You may feel hopeless, but there is hope.
My husband and I experienced infertility for about 10 years. I achieved a pregnancy on the 7th insemination, which was 18 years ago. I cannot imagine having an 18 year old in the house today! Sadly, I miscarried that baby. The doctors could not find a reason. Our papers say “unexplained infertility.”
My life didn’t seem to be my own. It was not turning out like planned. Pregnancy loss certainly changed my direction. I asked God why, many times. I turned my back on Him. I was angry, jealous and bitter for many years. I wanted to die.
God in His grace never, ever left me though. He wooed me back; quietly, gently and patiently. Today, I’m free from the anger, bitterness and jealousy that consumed me during part of that journey. I am blessed in ways I could not have imagined. I realized, finally, that my life is not my own. I belong to Christ. He has changed the direction of my life. Or has He? I believe my life is going in the direction He planned for me, long ago. My papers may say, “unexplained” but God’s paper, the Bible, says, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Hope is not wishful thinking. Hope is Faith. Hope is Jesus. A Christian puts their hope in the promises of God, with confidence that He will do as He promises.
This is my future and I’m living happily ever after. You can have this hope and future too. Just ask Him to help you. Refuse to sink.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him.
Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NLT
Dear Heavenly Father, Life doesn’t happen like we expect. We experience loss of many kinds. It’s heartbreaking. Devastating. I know there are many couples that long to have children and for whatever reason cannot. Help us to trust you in all things. I pray for healing of bodies and emotions. I pray you will give us hope and confidence in Your plan for us. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
