Do you have fears? Big and small fears; we all have them. We can overcome them. One February morning a little overcomer taught me a lesson. Read on.
It was another beautiful February morning. I try not to take our winter weather for granted here in Arizona so I get outside as much as possible. This particular morning I gathered my Bible, journal, pencil, and tall glass of water with ice cubes and set up my quiet morning with God at our patio table. I turned on the waterfall. The sun is warming, the water quietly spilling into the pool, the birds are chirping and hummingbirds are buzzing all around the feeders.
John joins me a little while later. He is quiet since he can tell I’m absorbing God’s truth. Then he whispers, “Look at the bird in the waterfall.” This little one is having a great time! We are not sure what type of bird it is yet but it looks like it might be a hummingbird.
We watch for a good 10 minutes or so. Another hummingbird is fluttering above the one in the water. He wants to join in but is afraid maybe. But the one in the water is dunking his head, fluffing his wings, again and again. He is having a great time!
I name my friend, Overcomer. He was hesitating at first but decided to jump in. This little Overcomer is living free. Not just because he is a bird but because he has overcome a fearful obstacle.
Updated 9/10/2020 to add link: How to Attract Hummingbirds With Water
Watching nature is a sure way to hear and see God. We just need to open our ears and eyes.
I have areas that I need to jump in to. I hesitate because of fear and uncertainty. Sometimes I just need to test the waters before jumping in. Like my friend, Overcomer.
We don’t need to be afraid when we walk with God. His word says in Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
What do you need to jump in to?
Father, I pray that You will give us the courage to be an overcomer in that one area we have been hesitating in. Thank you for Your assurance in your Word that you will help us. In Jesus Name.
What a beautiful sight to experience! God is constantly showing me his truths through nature, too. I love it. Lovely post, Barbara. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Abby. One of my favorite things to do is to watch these hummingbirds. I have about 5 that come to my feeders. His fingerprint is all over the outdoors! Thanks for stopping by.
Oh Barbara, I wish I could sit on your porch for a while! Sounds beautiful. It’s so true that God speaks to us through nature!
And I would love to have you join me, Betsy! February is the best time to come. I love our beautiful winters.
Beautifully written!! Thanks for posting
Kim, Thank you for that and thank you for stopping by!
