While cleaning out the garage recently, we found a small notebook about our trip across country. Here are some fun facts we recorded.
Gas was less than a dollar per gallon. We logged where we stopped for gas, how many gallons we bought and the cost. The total gas purchased was less than $250.
Motel costs for 5 nights was about $230. We stayed at Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson and Best Westerns. We usually stopped by 5 p.m. to have dinner and get rested up for more driving the next day.
Food stops were mostly drive thru’s. It looks like we spent approximately $125 for food for those 5 days.
We recorded our driving times too, for each day, for an approximate total of 47 hours. Total mileage was approximately 2300 miles.
John did all the driving while Petey entertained me. He was pretty active since his toys were moving around with the bouncing of the truck. I wanted to stop to see sites, shop and take pictures. John just wanted to get to Arizona. Maneuvering the huge truck with the car attached was not an easy thing.
Fun memories. Scary adventure. New beginning.
We have been discussing for years where we would like to retire to. In 2006 we visited Raleigh, North Carolina. We’ve also thought about Columbus, Ohio or back to the small town we lived in before moving, which is about 100 miles East of Columbus. We also like Sun City, AZ.
We do not know where our next move is or when it is. Maybe it is Ohio, North Carolina or staying in Arizona.
Or maybe God has another place completely different for us.
We are open to His plan, His place and His will for us.
We knew it was God guiding us to move here and He truly worked out many details for us. One example, when John went to pick up the U Haul they did not have the size we ordered. That could have been a problem. They gave us a 24-foot U Haul, which was bigger than what we ordered. Good thing, because the bigger one ended up full with all our stuff. God knew we needed the bigger one.
Life is an adventure when God is guiding your steps. Having faith in His plan is an exciting way to live. I believe God will tell us when it’s time to do it again and where. In the meantime, I’m packing.
Thank you for reading. I hope you’ve enjoyed our journey.
I will have updates on any continuation of our next move and where. Please subscribe via email on the sidebar to the right and Like my Facebook page.
