Some of the reasons I enjoy reading a good book is learning something new, for entertainment and to improve my writing skills. The Bones Will Speak does all that and more. I picked this book to review because the title intrigued me and I love being introduced to new authors. This is my first by author, Carrie Stuart Parks, but not my last. I enjoyed her believable characters and the suspense throughout the book. I will be sure to read A Cry From The Dust soon. Gwen is dealing with life in ways many women are. She is divorced, raising a daughter, had breast cancer, having money problems. And she has a dog, Winston, that just came home with a skull. I had to find out who it was or how did this happen.
The story, for me, started out with action, humor, and suspense. I was hooked on the first few pages. The pace slowed until halfway, then I could not put it down. Parks added in about The Phineas Priesthood and it made the story interesting. Parks wove the story in ways that I was not able to predict who the killer was. I’d rather be surprised than figure it out.
I would recommend The Bones Will Speak to those who enjoy suspense, forensics, and serial killers.
