This past summer my husband and I spent a week with family at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. What a great time we had! We stayed in a big, beautiful home on the beach, with the deck on the third floor, facing the ocean.
The sunrise was spectacular. I did not experience the sunrises first hand, being the non-morning person that I am. My brother was up and captured some awesome shots!
We ventured out to see some sights. One stop was the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, NC. This lighthouse is the nations tallest and most recognized, according to www.visitnc.com . Stairs will take you up, 257 stairs to be exact.
A lighthouse has a bright light at the top and is used to guide ships at night. A lighthouse also serves as a warning of dangerous coastlines. They navigate ships to safety.
Lighthouses weather the fiercest of storms. They are strong and stabile. Sailors felt joy and hope when seeing a lighthouse after a tiring and difficult sail on the sea.
What storms are you facing right now? Do you need some navigation through a dangerous or a stressful situation? Maybe you keep getting a warning concerning a relationship that you need to listen to.
I could not sail through this life with out my Lighthouse. His name is Jesus. Oh yes, for many years I thought I could handle whatever came my way. I’m in control. I’m strong. But I was a mess inside. Maybe you are too. It’s hard to admit it but there is freedom when we’re honest with ourselves.
Jesus is stabile, a bright light in any darkness. He guides us to safety in relationships and anything else we need protection from. That whisper of a warning is Him. His Holy Spirit speaks to our heart to guide us.
Will you let Him be your lighthouse today? He loves you and wants to be your source of strength.
There is a song by Rend Collective called My Lighthouse. Some of the words are “You are the peace in my troubled sea.” “You will carry me safe to shore.” “You will lead us through the storms.” I find all this to be true.
