This question about pain is on the back cover.
From Amazon: Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment, he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.
The Shack is a compelling story, with sadness, forgiveness, loss, love, and peace. There is some controversy about Mr. Young’s theology used in The Shack, which you can Google to learn more. For me, part of the book was questionable from a Biblical standpoint. Other parts, I believe, were in line with Scripture. It is a work of fiction so I read it as such. Where is God in pain, tragedies and heartbreaking events in our life?
The Dad, Mack, understands how God redeems our pain and tragedies by the end of the story and it changes his life. God is with us in the pain and helps us through it. And just think about the pain and tragedies God has prevented. I was confronted with my lack of trust in my Heavenly Father while reading and I believe God used this book to draw me closer to my relationship with Him.
I enjoyed this book, learned from it and looking forward to seeing the movie.

Thank you and Good Luck!
I was just sharing with Dave last night about the gratitude I have for the pain and tragedies that God has spared us from. He has protected our family and drawn us to Himself. It gives me goosebumps!
Amen! And we don’t even know what some of the protection is from! Thanks for stopping by Lisa.
