Are you part of a family that is perfect? I didn’t think so. Mine isn’t perfect either. Maybe your family is happy and everyone gets along well. Maybe when you all get together you feel the tension of some who don’t get along. This book is about change, how one person can change and then everyone benefits. There may be something in this book to help in an area you didn’t know needed help. That’s what it did for me. This book holds an encouraging and inspiring message.
Gary Morland was an alcoholic. He wasn’t a believer in Jesus. He did not have good role models and didn’t have a healthy family.
Then it all changed, for the better, over a period of time. He stopped drinking. He became a believer. A friend named Harold helped Gary “connect the dots” of life and unlearn some of the behaviors and attitudes he thought was normal.
This is a book about hope, grace, forgiveness, what a healthy family looks like and how to have one.
You may think your family has it all together like I did. John and I have some work to do to have a better marriage and family relationship with each other.
Some things this book has me thinking about: Are we happy? Is someone always offended, frustrated or impatient?
What if we rooted for each other, assumed the best and accepted each other as we are? Life overall would be so much better and families would be happier, patient and peaceful.
You may think your family habits and lifestyle are just the way it is, with no hope of change. It is possible to break the chains of this kind of thinking.
Through the “Timeless Tools of Family Peace”, we learn attitudes, expectations, and actions we can utilize to have the happy family we all long for. One of the tools is “Accept your family and each member unconditionally” by loving them no matter what. This does not mean you love and accept their conduct.
Another tool is “Encourage six times more.” Encourage much more than criticize. We can never encourage someone too much. But criticizing too much can do all kinds of hurt and ugly.
