It’s hard to watch the news these days especially with the many heartbreaking events around the globe and hurting people. It is so easy to become immune to it all. Yes, I catch myself having thoughts of being glad I don’t live in that city or country. Instead, I need to remember to pray for these hurting people.
The media hype causes us to wonder what is true. What’s with all this news about fake news? Is anyone representing the news with integrity, truth and honesty? It makes me wonder.
As Christians, we have the Bible as our Truth. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, written by men who were inspired by God.
Scientific evidence, History, Archaeology, and Prophecies fulfilled, all prove the Bible accuracy. Since there is more than enough information on the World Wide Web, I won’t go into these but will suggest some links at the end of this post.
There are men and women who’ve encountered the God of the Bible and have life changing experiences to share.
Today I want to share some of my life and how Jesus Christ has changed me as I read and apply the Bible. I’m still a work in progress and thankful He doesn’t give up on me. There are many Bible verses that I have prayed for different issues in my life. God has not disappointed me. If He answers a prayer differently than I’ve prayed for, He’s provided the assurance that He has a plan for me. Especially when I’m worried about something. His peace is so comforting.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
I’ve experienced this peace. This peace is an overwhelming feeling of everything being ok even in the midst of scary stuff. God’s peace cannot really be explained. When I read Philippians 4:7, I want this peace and ask God for it. It’s not natural to have calm in the storms, but God’s word is the anchor that keeps us steady.
Another verse I cling to and God proves His Truth is Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
There are many weak places in my life. And I need His strength.
One stronghold was smoking cigarettes. I stopped and started so many times. Several years ago when I would be smoking out on our patio, I would have the conviction that God was telling me to give it up. I wanted to be obedient to Him but couldn’t seem to stop this bad habit. I prayed to stop. Smoked again. Prayed some more. One morning, after having a smoke and coffee on the patio, I started to not feel well and had a panic attack. I don’t believe God gave me that panic attack but I believe He used it to take away my desire to smoke. That was many years ago and I still have not had a desire for one.
When I read the Bible and see an area that is hard for me, I pray for that to be true in my life. I have more compassion for the hurting than I had before accepting Christ. There have been situations in my life that normally would cause me to be bitter, angry and revengeful. I am not bitter, angry or revengeful. There are people who have hurt me, rejected me and lied to me and I’ve been able to forgive and not hold a grudge.
My natural personality is to “get back” at someone or something. With Christ in my life, I let Him handle.
These are just a few ways that tell me the Bible is truth. If I did not read my Bible, I would not know it to be Truth. I’m so thankful for God’s Truth that gives me peace, changes my heart and fills me with joy. A changed life reveals the Truth of the Bible.
The Truth of the Bible guides me in doing the right thing.
It’s not always easy or comfortable but it’s the true way to live. I’m learning and growing by God’s words and have a long way to go.

My prayer is for you to know my Jesus as your anchor for your soul.
