Because the Lamb who stands at the center of the throne is their shepherd and they are His sheep,
and He will lead them to the water of life.
And God will dry every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17 (VOICE)
Heaven has been in my thoughts a lot lately. I think one reason is the passing of Reverend Billy Graham. The following words have been viral on the Internet that Rev. Graham has said. “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
I couldn’t agree more. Heaven is a place, the Bible tells us, with no pain, sickness or suffering. A place filled with the presence of God the Father. I look forward to the day I see my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
How can we be assured that our destination is Heaven?
The Bible is our assurance. I believe the Bible, and only the Bible, is the inspired Word of God. I believe every word and try to live it. I fail every day. But Jesus has come to earth as a baby, a humble, helpless baby, for the purpose of rescuing God’s children. Jesus is a gift to the world. And we have a choice to accept or reject this gift. My Hope is Christ and He can be that for you also.
Jesus is our assurance of Heaven
Many years ago I chose to accept God’s gift and live for Him. This is how I am assured my destination is Heaven. I’ve had the privilege of having mentor’s in my life to guide me to the truth of God’s Word. By sharing my faith on this blog and social media is one way I can pass along what I have learned to those who desire to grow closer to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I look forward to Heaven and seeing Jesus because He not only is my Lord and Savior but my friend. A very close friend.
When I plan a visit to see family or friends, I plan with excitement and anticipation. Don’t you? Think of a time you visited a long ago friend that you haven’t seen in many years. Maybe it was at a class reunion or maybe she was going to be in the town where you lived. Those reunions are such a blessing and fun. When I meet Jesus in Heaven I imagine it will be like those friend reunions, magnified beyond my imagination.
Like Billy said, “I will have just changed my address when I pass from this earth.” This address on earth is temporary. Our next address, whether heaven or hell, is for eternity. I hope and pray you are with us in heaven one day.
Billy Graham was one of the mentor’s I mentioned. I watched his crusades many times in my younger years and walked to the front, in my heart, every time to accept Jesus. The other day I was at a store and saw the book, The Heaven Answer Book by Billy Graham. The chapters include, What is Heaven Like, What will we do in Heaven, What difference does Heaven make and more. I haven’t read it all yet but enjoying it so far.
There is a lot of the Bible I do not understand but I know enough to know hell is a real place of torment and heaven is a real place of peace.
My prayer for you today is to choose heaven. Choose Jesus. He loves you.
The book by Billy Graham on heaven looks like a great resource to have on hand and help answer the questions people sometimes have about what happens after we die. What a celebration of life to remember such a remarkable man!
I’ve only glanced through the book and yes, it will be a great resource. I may go pick up a few more since they were only $2.99. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Oh Barbara…I have felt the same way…the week he changed addresses, I was reading, Billy Graham Nearing Home…My eyes did leak but I know he is with Our Lord & Savior! What a joyous welcoming he received…
Thank you again for sharing your heart!
That is another book on my To Read list. So many good books out there! Miss you, my friend. 🙂
I enjoyed your blog Alive in Heaven. I loved what Billy Graham said about his change of address and not to believe he was dead but more alive. I too am assured of this. Because wrath is coming and people need to know their is hope for everyone they just need to choose Life, life in Him and not death and eternal damnation in darkness, he’ll. I finally saw a post of yours to click on your page. I will definitely return and read your other ones.
Hi Paula, Thank you so much for your comment. I’m grateful to know you are assured of our Hope of Heaven. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
