Have you had enough of the lies whispered in your thoughts and want to live a life of believing the truth? Lies of, I’m not strong enough, talented enough, brave enough, pretty enough, thin enough. God wants to change this for us. Whatever we need, He is enough.
Sometimes I believe these lies and don’t even realize it. Maybe you too? Sharon Jaynes, in her new book, Enough, has helped me see some areas about myself that I’ve been deceived. We must learn to recognize the lies.

Have you ever said, “I’d be happy if……….” Fill in the blank with whatever you think will make you happy. Well, it’s a lie. I thought I would be happy if I had a husband. Nope. Though I have a good marriage, it is not always happy. I’m not always happy being married. I also thought I would be happy if I had a baby. No again. My happiness does not depend on having children and I realized later this was also a lie. Today, I’m happy without children. I see many women with children that seem very unhappy.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
In part I, we read how to Realize, Recognize, Reject and Replace. It’s a battle plan to help us reprogram our thinking.
In Part II, The Lies Women Tell Themselves, the chapters include, I’m Not Good Enough, I Would Be Happy If, I Can’t Forgive the Person Who Hurt Me, My Life is Hopeless and God Doesn’t Really Love Me. Sharon helps the reader to see the truth in order to silence those false voices that give us feelings of worthlessness, shame, hopelessness, and unhappiness.
Filled with Scripture, this book would be a great companion for Bible study groups or your own personal Bible study. The back pages have a Truth reference guide and a Bible Study Guide. I love how Jaynes explains and uses everyday examples. Also, her honesty and vulnerability make you realize you are not alone in the struggle.
I recommend this book to girls of all ages that want to confront the lies and start believing the truth. It will give you a confidence boost.
