Where do we need an anchor? The definition of an anchor is • a person or thing that provides stability or confidence in an otherwise uncertain situation.
Maybe you need stability in your marriage.
Or in your job with layoffs coming.
Or confidence that you’ll get through the diagnosis.
A crisis can shatter. Anxiety is not friendly. Uncertainty causes fear.
What can we do to get through it? Maybe that’s the wrong question.
Maybe we should ask, “where do I turn to get through it?”
I tried on my own to get through difficulties. I think that only made it harder. When I sought God in those times, it was still very hard, but I knew without a doubt He was with me every step of the way as an Anchor. And He promises Peace.
He promises to be with us and never forsake us. Hebrews 13:5
When we walk through the valley, He is with us. Psalm 23
Jesus told us we will have trials and sorrows in this life. John 16:33
Jesus is our anchor. He provides stability in life to get through those hard places. Available to all who trust in Him.
Last month I wrote What Does ‘Hope Anchors the Soul’ mean?
Where do you need confidence in an uncertain situation? For me, it’s cancer. I had thyroid cancer 11 years ago, but once in awhile fear invades my thoughts of it returning. That’s when I have to intentionally go to God in prayer and to His Word to remind myself no matter what He is with me. He is my Anchor. If I let fear dictate my life, I would live a devastated life. And we don’t have to live that way.
