Hope during the Coronavirus Pandemic

April 7, 2020 by Barbara

There is Hope during the coronavirus pandemic. A pandemic is a worldwide outbreak of a disease and the coronavirus is not the first. Being somewhat of a research nerd, I find interest in reading about past pandemics. But, I have to limit my intake. It can be frightening. The Internet, news, social media is bombarding us with fear. But you have the control to turn it off.

TURN off the fear!

It’s April 2020, a time of uncertainty, fear, what if’s. Everyone reacts differently to this crisis, using humor, anger or pride to name a few. All normal reactions. I read an article that talked about how we may even be in a state of grief. Others are going to the Bible, sharing Bible verses and devotions on Social Media.  How are you handling this coronavirus pandemic?

Where is Hope during this coronavirus pandemic?

If you’re feeling unsteady, like I am at times, try not to stay there. When we get those feelings, take measures to talk to a friend, or listen to music, or read. Whatever helps to take your mind off the dread. I think a lot of my anxiety comes from not feeling in control. It is comforting to know there is Someone who is in control and that Someone is Jesus Christ. In Philippians 4, Paul, the apostle, tells us to not be anxious about anything. We are to pray and give thanks. And when we do, God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds. This Peace brings us calm, in the midst of any storm we might be in.

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

In this post What Does ‘Hope anchors the Soul’ mean I write about Jesus being our Anchor. The same way an anchor is used to keep a boat steady and secure, Jesus wants to be that anchor for each of us. He longs to be ‘connected’ to you and me to keep us steady and secure. Let’s trust Him to do so. He loves us so much. In times I was not connected to my Anchor, I drifted, just like a boat would do if it wasn’t anchored.

When my hope is in Him, I’m secure and confident.

When my hope is not in him, I’m tossed around with worry and fear.Hope in Jesus

Sometimes we don’t know we are drifting or believe we are self-sufficient and don’t need Jesus. Friends, I pray that isn’t you. Each and every one of us needs this Anchor, this Saviour, this Jesus. This is Holy Week. The week of Jesus’ brutal experience that led to the cross where He died for our sins. Yes, for me and for you. I don’t understand it all but I choose to believe it. If you have not chosen Jesus as your personal Saviour and would like to, I’ve included a prayer at the end of the post.

Life won’t be perfect or easy but with Him, you’ll have peace and hope.

We’ll get through this. Press into Jesus. He loves you so much.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I’m a sinner in need of your grace. I confess to you my sins and ask your forgiveness. Come into my heart. I believe that you love me and sent Jesus to die for my sins. I believe He rose again on the third day. By faith, I accept your gift of salvation. I trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for taking my sin and providing eternal life.

In Jesus’ precious name. Amen

Be encouraged. Read the Bible to be encouraged and to build your faith. There are many Bible verses of promises from God about not living in fear. Let’s trust that our Father in heaven will see us through this storm. God bless you and thank you for reading. Feel free to share it with your friends.

Another great blog Barb. God’s word and his promises bring me such peace.
So glad I have Jesus in my heart. I remember how life used to be without him: discouragement, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, bad attitude.
    Jesus is The Way.

Welcome!

Hi Friend, Welcome to my corner of the online world, where I write to encourage and give hope. I believe everyone could use a dose of hope from time to time so whether you need hope for your marriage, your closet, or anything in between, I hope you find some encouragement here.

Having been through some hard situations, I understand what it's like to live hopeless, depressed, angry, and bitter until God rescued me in His Love and Grace. In Him, I found an Anchor to keep me safe and secure. My passion is to share how He has rescued me and give others encouragement, as He has for me.
